Mary McEnery Harding '84
Spirit of Service Community Honorees

Mary HardingMary McEnery Harding ’84 is well known in our community for her philanthropy and leadership. She and her husband, Dr. Al Harding, are tireless advocates for Catholic education and were leaders in the capital campaign for Saint Joseph High School. Mary has also been involved as a volunteer at Christ the King parish and school. In addition to supporting the education of young people in our community, Mary has helped those in need through her work over the years with St. Vincent de Paul and the Junior League of South Bend.

 

Annie Maguire '20
Spirit of Service Student Honoree

Annie MaguireAnnie Maguire ’20 promotes a life of social responsibility through her many hours of service to the College Academy of Tutoring program, the development of Project S.H.E. workshops for young girls and their mothers in Northern Indiana, and as an active participant in the Catholic Relief Services Student Ambassador Program that focuses on climate change, human trafficking, and migration. She has integrated her passions into a self-designed double major at Saint Mary’s that reflects her commitment to service and global engagement.

 

Sister Carmel Marie Sallows, CSC
Spirit of Service Sister of the Holy Cross Honoree

Sister CarmelSister Carmel Marie Sallows, CSC, has led a life dedicated to others. She taught for more than 30 years from 1954-1985. She became librarian at St. Joseph High School in 1985, and continues to serve as an assistant librarian today. With a remarkable history of service and sacrifice, Sister Carmel continues to volunteer at four non-profit organizations, including for Center for Hospice Care at the South Bend inpatient care facility.
