Belles Take Third at Final MIAA Jamboree

BATTLE CREEK, Mich. - The Saint Mary's golf team shot a 344 behind a 76 by Natalie Matsuzak to take third at the final MIAA Jamboree of the Fall season on Thursday.

Hope and Olivet tied for first place with matching 322 scores. Olivet's Lauren Campbell was the medalist of the round with an MIAA record 70 at the Bedford Valley Golf Club.

Senior Natalie Matuszak shot a 76 on the afternoon for her best score to-date of the Fall 2011 season. Matusazk had three birdies and ten pars on the day. She had a round-best 33 on the front nine for the Belles and finished second overall. Classmate Christine Brown had matching 41s on both the front and back nine for an 82 and a share of eighth place. The 82 also matched her lowest round of the season thus far.

Janice Heffernan shot a 92 on the day with matching scores of 46 on the front nine and the back nine, which put the freshman in a tie for 23rd place individually in the round. Jessica Kinnick wrapped up the Belles' score with a 94 (t-27th).

Heading into the two-day MIAA Championship event, which is also hosted at Bedford Valley, Saint Mary's sits 30 strokes behind second place Olivet and 45 strokes behind first place Hope.
