Belles Place Sixth at Storm-Shortened DePauw Small College Classic

CLAYTON, Ind. - Despite teeing off an hour earlier than originally scheduled due to incoming storms, the 2011 version of the DePauw Small College Classic was cut short due to storms and lightning at Deer Creek Golf Club. The participating teams were able to play only nine holes of golf on Sunday before the storms rolled in.

The Belles finished the 27-hole event with a team score of 520 after a 170 today and were within striking distance of fourth place. Wittenberg finished in fifth with a team score of 518 while conference rival Olivet was fourth with a score of 513.

Centre and host DePauw both played even for the day with scores of 166, which gave Centre (482) the tournament title by four strokes over the Tigers (486).

Individual scores were unavailable at the time of release.

The Belles will close out the fall season with the final two MIAA jamborees and the MIAA Championship round. The first of those two jamborees will take place Thursday, September 29 at the Medalist Golf Club in Marshall, Michigan.
