Belles Finish Third at the Ravines

SAUGATUCK, Mich. - The fifth-ranked Saint Mary's golf team finished third at the MIAA Jamboree hosted by Hope at the Ravines Golf Course on Wednesday.

The 13th ranked Olivet golf team took first place at the event with a team score of 323. Host Hope, who received votes in the NGCA pre-season poll, was second with a 340 score while the Belles were third with a 345 on the day. Olivet's Theresa Damico was the medalist at the event with a 74 for the only sub-80 score on the day.

Christine Brown led the Belles on Wednesday with an 84 to tie for sixth overall after an impressive 38 on the back nine. Janice Heffernan, Cara Kielty, and Jessica Kinnick all finished within two strokes of each other for Saint Mary's. Heffernan turned in an 86 for a share of 11th place, Kielty was tied for 15th after an 87, and Kinnick carded an 88 to tie for 18th. Natalie Matuszak shot a 94 on the day for a share of 25th place as the fifth player for the Belles.

Saint Mary's will take a break from conference play as they travel to the Indianapolis area for the DePauw Small College Classic, which will take place at Deer Creek Golf Course on Saturday and Sunday, September 24 and 25.
