Belles Just One Shot Behind First at Kalamazoo Jamboree

KALAMAZOO, Mich. - The Saint Mary's golf team finished just one stroke behind Hope for second place at the MIAA Jamboree hosted by Kalamazoo at Milham Park Golf Course on Saturday.

Hope took first place with a team score of 339 while the Belles turned in a 340. Calvin finished in third place with a 348. Hope's Charlotte Park was the medalist of the round with an 81.

Natalie Matuszak led the Belles on Saturday with an 82 to finish second after turning in a field-best 39 on the back nine. Consistency was the key for the next three finishers for the Belles as Christine Brown, Janice Heffernan, and Jessica Kinnick all shot rounds of 86 to tie for 11th place on the day. Cara Kielty was the Belles' fifth golfer at the event and shot a 99 on the day.

The Belles will wait to see if their MIAA Jamboree round at Albion will be made up. The MIAA wraps up their fall season for women's golf next Saturday at the two-round MIAA Championships at Bedford Valley Golf Course.
