Belles Finish Second at Opening MIAA Jamboree

ANGOLA, Ind. - The fifth-ranked Saint Mary's golf team finished second at the opening MIAA Jamboree of the season, hosted by Trine University at Zollner Golf Course.

Hope won the event with a team score of 325 while the Belles turned in a 342. Olivet finished third with a team score of 345. Hope's Brittany Haight was the medalist of the round with a 77.

Christine Brown was the top finisher for the Belles. The senior finished second overall with an 80 after an event-best four birdies on the day. Classmate Natalie Matuszak was two shots behind Brown with an 82 (t-6th). Matuszak had two birdies and was even for the day on par five scoring.

Cara Kielty finished the day with an 88 for Saint Mary's to hold a share of 15th place. Janice Heffernan and Jessica Kinnick both shot rounds on Thursday to tie three other golfers for 24th place.

Next up for the Belles will be the second of four jamborees among conference teams. The second jamboree will be hosted by Hope at Macatawa Legends Golf Course on Wednesday, September 20.
