Belles Tie for Third at First Conference Round

MARSHALL, Mich. - The Saint Mary's golf team tied for third place at the first MIAA Jamboree of the fall season with a team score of 338 at the Medalist Golf Club.

Defending conference champion Olivet took first place with a 324 while Hope finished second with a 336. The Belles tied with Calvin for the third place spot.

Olivet's Theresa Damico was the medalist with an MIAA course record 72 as one of just two players to shoot in the 70s on the day.

Alexi Bown led the way for the Belles with a career-low round of 82 on the day to finish in fifth place. She was tied for second on the day in par four scoring with a +2 and had a pair of birdies. Janice Heffernan finished a stroke behind with an 83 to tie for sixth place. The sophomore had nine pars and was tied for third in par five scoring.

Claire Boyle, Justine Bresnahan, and Amanda Graham all finished within two strokes of one another. Boyle carded an 86 for 12th place while turning in eight pars. Bresnahan had a round of 87 to tie for 13th place. Graham shot an 88 for a share of 16th place to go along with eight pars on the afternoon.

Sammie Averill and Jessica Kinnick played as individuals for Saint Mary's. Averill shot a 92 (t-23rd), and Kinnick tied for third in par three scoring with a 97 (t-34th).

The Belles will play at Pine River Golf Club on Saturday for the next MIAA Jamboree hosted by Alma with play scheduled to begin at 1:00 p.m.
