Belles Finish Third at Second MIAA NCAA Qualifying Round

MARSHALL, Mich. - The Saint Mary's golf team shot a 360 and finished third on the day at the second of three MIAA NCAA qualifying rounds at the Medalist Golf Club on Friday.

Olivet shot an MIAA course record with a 319 to win the second round and extend their lead to 62 strokes heading into the third and final qualifying round. Hope posted a team score of 350 on the day, and Calvin was fourth with a 367. The Comets' Theresa Damico was the medalist with a four-over par 76.

Paige Pollak and Janice Heffernan led the Belles with matching scores of 87 to tie for seventh place individually. Pollak had a birdie and seven pars on the day. Heffernan scored five pars in her round for the Belles.

Claire Boyle was one stroke behind Pollak and Heffernan with an 88 to finish in a tie for ninth individually. She had six pars in her round after shooting 44s on both the front and back nine.

Alexi Bown and Jessica Kinnick both shot rounds of 98 for Saint Mary's to tie for 22nd place.

The automatic qualifier for the 2013 NCAA Division III Golf Championship will be determined after the conclusion of tomorrow's round at the Medalist Golf Club. Tee times begin at 1:00 p.m.
