Belles Finish Second at Milham Park

KALAMAZOO, Mich. - The Saint Mary's golf team finished second at the MIAA Jamboree hosted by Kalamazoo at Milham Park Golf Course on Saturday.

Olivet maintained their lead with an MIAA course record 321. The Belles turned in a round of 336 for second place. Calvin was third with a 349. Olivet's Adrienne Plourde was the medalist of the round with a 76.

Janice Heffernan led the Belles' efforts with an 80 to tie for second place individually. She had an eagle on the par four 16th hole and added nine pars. Paige Pollak was three strokes behind to finish ninth overall and turned in seven pars for a round of 83.

Courtney Carlson and Alexi Bown rounded out the team scores after shooting rounds of 86 and 87, respectively. Carlson had eight pars and finished tied for 11th individually with her 86. Bown tied for seventh in par four scoring and held a share of 14th place overall in the individual standings. Sammie Averill tied for 28th place overall after shooting a 92 as the Belles' fifth scoring-eligible golfer in the event.

The Belles travel to the Golf Club at Thornapple Pointe in Grand Rapids, Michigan on Wednesday, October 2 for the next MIAA Jamboree.
