Best Round of the Season Gives Belles Second Place

ANGOLA, Ind. - The Saint Mary's golf team turned in their best round of the fall 2013 season so far with a 329 to finish second at the MIAA Jamboree hosted by Trine.

Olivet maintained their lead in the overall standings with a 320 for first place at Zollner Golf Course. The Belles' 329 was twelve strokes better than the matching 341s recorded by Hope and Calvin. Calvin's Carlia Canto was the medalist with a one-over-par 73.

Ali Mahoney shot a 76 to finish third individually. She and Canto led the field with three birdies each. Mahoney shot under par on par five number five, par three number six, par four number fourteen. Paige Pollak was a stroke behind Mahoney with a 77 to finish fourth overall. Pollak drained a birdie on par four number fifteen while tying with three other players to lead the field in par four scoring.

Sammie Averill shot an 86 to tie for 18th individually. Alexi Bown carded a 90 for a share of 21st to wrap up the team score. Janice Heffernan was the Belles' fifth scoring eligible golfer and shot a 92 to tie for 26th place in the individual rankings.

The Belles conclude the fall season next weekend at the two-day MIAA End of Season Weekend Jamboree at Bedford Valley.
