Belles Take Third at Olivet Labor Day Tee-Off

MARSHALL, Mich. - The Saint Mary's golf team finished third at the Olivet Labor Day Tee-Off Tournament on Sunday.

The Belles shot a 334 to finish with a two-day score of 672. Washington University in St. Louis won the invitational with a final score of 628 with a 320 on Sunday. Olivet was second with a 634 (315-319). Olivet's Theresa Damico edged out teammate Adrienne Plourde and Oliva Lugar from Washington University in St. Louis for individual medalist honors with a 150 (74-76).

Paige Pollak led the Belles with the best round of her collegiate career with a 75 on Sunday. With the three-over-par effort, Pollak took fifth place individually (81-75--156) and earned all-tournament honors as she led the field with six birdies.

Janice Heffernan took seven strokes off her score from yesterday to shoot an 81 on Sunday for a two-day score of 169 (t-15th) for Saint Mary's. Ali Mahoney was just two strokes behind Heffernan's total score with a 171 for the tournament after shooting a 90 to finish 21st.

Sammie Averill added a second 88 in as many days for a 176 to tie for 30th place individually and wrap up the Belles' team score. Alexi Bown was the fifth scoring-eligible golfer for the Belles and finished tied for 44th (184) with a 96 today.

Rachel Kim played as an individual and shot her second 91 of the tournament for a two-day score of 182 to tie for 40th place.

The Belles are off from competition until they host the O'Brien National Invitational on September 15-16 at the Warren Golf Course at Notre Dame.
