Belles in Fourteenth at DePauw Small College Classic

Day One Results

CLAYTON, Ind. - The Saint Mary's golf team currently sits in fourteenth place after day one of the DePauw Small College Classic.

Wittenberg and Washington University in St. Louis share the lead at the tournament with matching scores of 323. Huntingdon is third with a 325, and Carthage is fourth with a 326. Washington University's Olivia Lugar is atop the leaderboard individually with a day one score of 75.

Saint Mary's turned in a day one team score of 360 as the team is within eight strokes of 11th place in the tight field. Janice Heffernan shot an 82 to hold a share of 16th place individually to lead the Belles on Saturday. Ali Mahoney carded a 90 on day one as the sophomore is tied for 59th overall.

Rachel Kim shot a 93 for Saint Mary's for a share of 72nd place, and Katie Zielinski rounded out the team score with a 95 and 75th place. Courtney Carlson was the Belles' fifth scoring-eligible golfer and had a 96 to sit in a tie for 76th.

Kaitlyn Cartone is competing as an individual in the tournament and had a day-one score of 97 (t-80th).

The two-day tournament begins play on Sunday, September 21 at 8:30 a.m. at Deer Creek Golf Club.
