Belles in Fifteenth at Illinois Wesleyan Spring Fling

NORMAL, Ill. - The Saint Mary's golf team shot a 339 to sit in 15th place after day one of the Illinois Wesleyan Kathy Niepagen Spring Fling at the Ironwood Golf Course.

Host Illinois Wesleyan leads the field of 21 teams with a 302 followed closely by NAIA Indiana Tech's 307. DePauw is third with a team score of 312. Grinnell's Vidushi Sinha was the round medalist with an even-par 72. The Belles are one stroke behind 14th place Franklin (338).

Ali Mahoney led the Belles with an 82 to finish tied for 39th after day one. The junior had birdies on the par three eighth and the par four 18th while turning in seven pars. Taylor Kehoe was two strokes behind with an 84 to hold a share of 63rd after carding nine pars.

Kelsey Conkright had a round of 86 with six pars to finish in a tie for 70th. Courtney Carlson rounded out the team score with an 87 to hold a share of 76th while posting seven pars. Sammie Averill is the Belles' fifth golfer in the lineup and shot an 89 with seven pars to sit in a tie for 85th.

The second and final round of the tournament begins at 9:00 a.m. CDT.
