Belles Place Fourth at Opening MIAA Round

MARSHALL, Mich. - The Saint Mary's golf team shot a 346 to finish fourth at the first conference jamboree of the season, which was hosted by Olivet at the Medalist Golf Club.

Hope claimed first place with a 317. Olivet was second with a 340, and Trine finished just one stroke ahead of the Belles with a 345. Hope's Megan Klintworth and Trine's Amy Worthington tied for medalist honors with matching 78s.

Taylor Kehoe led Saint Mary's with an 82 to finish tied for seventh. She was even on par three holes and had one birdie and eight pars on the day. Courtney Carlson was one stroke behind Kehoe with an 83 for a share of ninth place. She also had eight pars and a birdie. Ali Mahoney turned in an 89 for the Belles to finish 24th. She posted seven pars and a birdie while finishing in the top 15 players in par four scoring.

Rachel Kim had six pars and wrapped up the team score with a 92 to finish 27th. Sammie Averill was the fifth golfer in the lineup for Saint Mary's and shot a 95 to tie for 32nd.

Isabella Speedon competed as an individual and recorded a 94 to finish in a tie for 29th overall.

The second round of MIAA play is up next for the Belles as Saint Mary's travels to Kalamazoo to play Milham Park Golf Course starting at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday.
