Belles Finish Second at Opening MIAA AQ Round

MARSHALL, Mich. - The Saint Mary's golf team shot a 337 to finish second at the opening MIAA Automatic Qualifying round at the Medalist Golf Club.

Hope took first place with a 326. The Belles were one stroke ahead of host Olivet's 338. Trine was fourth with a 345. Hope's Britni Gielow was the round medalist with a round of 80.

Ali Mahoney led the Belles with an 83 to finish sixth overall. She was two-over on par three scoring and one-over on par five holes in the round with a team-high eight pars. Kelsey Conkright was a stroke back of Mahoney with an 84 to hold a share of seventh place. The sophomore had a birdie and tallied seven pars.

Courtney Carlson and Taylor Kehoe both carded rounds of 85 to tie for 10th place. Carlson was tied for second in par four scoring in the round and posted a pair of birdies with six pars. Kehoe added a birdie and seven pars on the day.

Sammie Averill was the fifth golfer in the Belles' lineup and shot a 93 with five pars to finish tied for 18th.

The second of the three round playoff will be held on Friday, April 29 at the Ravines Golf Course beginning at 2:00 p.m. and is hosted by Hope.
