Belles Win Hanover Fall Classic

SEYMOUR, Ind. - The Saint Mary's golf team fired a 320 on Sunday to claim the tournament title at the Hanover Fall Classic at Shadowood Golf Course.

All statistics are based solely on today's 18-hole round as the NCAA does not officially recognize nine-hole rounds.

The Belles finished 13 strokes ahead of Hanover's 333 on Sunday and 16 strokes of third-place Rose-Hulman's 336. The Belles' Lauren Read was the overall tournament medalist after shooting a 77 on Sunday. The freshman led the field with a two-over scoring effort on par four holes. She added a pair of birdies and had nine pars.

Taylor Kehoe posted a 78 on Sunday to finish second individually in a field of more than 50 golfers. The sophomore shared round-best honors with 12 pars and was tied for first in par three scoring on the day. Ali Mahoney finished third overall with an 80 and matched Kehoe with 12 pars while also tying for second in par four scoring.

Julia McAlindon capped off the team's 320 with an 85 on Sunday to finish tied for 11th place overall. The freshman had a birdie while turning in seven pars and posting a one-over score on par three holes in the round. Kaitlyn Cartone was the fifth golfer in the lineup for the Belles and shot an 86 and was tied for 15th place. She was one-over on par five holes in the round and posted a birdie.

Kaitlyn Gray competed as an individual and shot an 88 to finish tied for 19th while competing as an individual. She had five pars and was three-over on par five holes on the day.

The Belles open up the conference portion of their schedule when they travel to Marshall, Michigan on Monday, September 19 for the first MIAA Jamboree of the season, which is hosted by Albion and begins at 1:00 p.m.
