Belles Take Second Place at Opening MIAA Jamboree

MARSHALL, Mich. - The Saint Mary's golf team posted a 323 and finished second at the first MIAA Jamboree of the season, which was hosted by Albion at the Medalist Golf Club.

Hope won the round with a team score of 309. The Belles finished 13 strokes ahead of third place Olivet and 23 strokes ahead of fourth place Alma. Hope's Nicole Meyer was the medalist of the round after shooting an even-par 72.

Ali Mahoney led the Belles with a 77 to finish tied for fourth place overall. The senior was two over par in both par four and par five scoring on the day. Mahoney tallied 11 pars and a birdie in the round. Taylor Kehoe was two strokes behind with a 79 to finish sixth overall. She had 11 pars and a birdie while holding an even score on par three holes.

Lauren Read carded a score of 80 and finished tied for seventh place. Read was one over par in par three scoring and had 10 pars in the round. Kaitlyn Gray rounded out the team score with an 87 to hold a share of 20th place overall. The freshman was two over in par three scoring and posted eight pars. Kaitlyn Cartone was the fifth Belle in the lineup and shot a 91 to finish tied for 31st.

Julia McAlindon competed as an individual and shot an 86 to hold a share of 17th place in the overall standings. She was four-over par on par five holes in the round.

The Belles host the next MIAA Jamboree on Saturday, September 24 at Knollwood Country Club beginning at 1:00 p.m.
