Belles Sit in Sixth After Day One at Olivet Tournament

MARSHALL, Mich. - The Saint Mary's golf team is in sixth place after the first round of the Olivet Labor Day Tee-Off Tournament at the Medalist Golf Club.

Washington University in St. Louis leads the field with a score of 312. Illinois Wesleyan is second with a 328, and Olivet is third with a 337. The Belles shot a 348 and are only seven strokes out of fourth place going into day two's round. Jessica Wibawa of Washington University in St. Louis shot the low individual round of the day with a 74.

Ali Mahoney and Lauren Read each shot 86s (t-18th) to lead the Belles. Mahoney had seven pars in the round while Read posted a birdie and seven pars. Courtney Carlson was a stroke back with an 87 (t-26th). The senior had seven pars on the day. Taylor Kehoe rounded out the team score with an 89 (t-36th) with seven pars. Kaitlyn Cartone was the fifth Belle in the lineup and shot a 92 (t-43rd) with four pars.

Competing as individuals at the tournament for Saint Mary's are Kelsey Conkright and Julia McAlindon. Conkright carded a score of 92 (t-43rd) with a birdie while McAlindon had a 93 (47th) with four pars.

Day two of the tournament begins at 9:00 a.m. on Sunday morning.
