Belles Climb Leaderboard to Take Fourth at Olivet

MARSHALL, Mich. - The Saint Mary's golf team posted a 325 and moved up the final standings to claim fourth place at the Olivet Labor Day Tee-Off Tournament on Sunday.

Washington University in St. Louis won the event after a tournament-record 300 on Sunday gave the Bears a two-day score of 612. Host Olivet was second with a 662. Illinois Wesleyan was third with a final tally of 667. The Belles had a two-day score of 673. Samantha Haubenstock of Washington University in St. Louis was the tournament medalist after turning in rounds of 79 on Saturday and an even-par 72 on Sunday.

Ali Mahoney led the way for the Belles on Sunday. The senior shot a 79 to finish with a two-day score of 165 while tying for 12th place overall. She was tied for second in par three scoring while posting a pair of birdies during the tournament. Lauren Read shot an 80 on Sunday to finish tied for 14th with a final score of 166. The freshman was tied for sixth in par five scoring during the weekend while carding two birdies and 15 pars for the Belles.

Taylor Kehoe had an 81 on day two for a share of 19th place with a 170. She was three-over in par three scoring during the weekend and posted 15 pars. Courtney Carlson wrapped up the team score after shooting an 85 on Sunday for a 172 and a piece of 23rd place overall. The senior was in the top 20 in par four scoring during the weekend. Kaitlyn Cartone was the fifth Belle in the scoring lineup and shot an 89 on Sunday to finish 42nd with a two-day score of 181.

Julia McAlindon cut four strokes off yesterday's score to turn in an 89 on Sunday for a 182 and a share of 43rd while competing as an individual. Kelsey Conkright shot a 95 on Sunday for a 187 for 51st while also competing as an individual.

The Belles travel to Hanover's Fall Classic next weekend, which will be played at Sunrise Golf Course on Saturday and Shadowood Golf Course on Sunday in Seymour, Indiana.
