Belles Finish Thirteenth at WashU Spring Invite

Day Two Results

ST. LOUIS, Mo. - The Saint Mary's golf team improved by 13 strokes from day one (353) to day two (340) at the Washington University in St. Louis Spring Invite to take thirteenth place with a two-day score of 693.

Fourth-ranked Rhodes won the tournament with a two-day score of 597 after posting a 303 on Sunday. Gustavus Adolphus was second with a 624, and No. 17 ranked DePauw edged out Carlton by two strokes with a 625 for third. The Belles moved past conference rival Olivet to take thirteenth place as Saint Mary's edged the Comets by two strokes. Rhodes College's Emily Salamy was the tournament medalist with a combined score of 148 (72--76).

Courtney Quinlan had the low round of the day for the Belles with a career-best 83. She had just two double bogeys while shooting one-over or par on 16 holes in the round. Her two-day score of 178 gave her sole possession of 70th place overall. Taylor Kehoe turned in an 84 on Sunday and had the team's highest individual placement as the sophomore tied for 55th (169). She posted a birdie on the par four number one hole and added five pars in the final round.

Lauren Read was a stroke back with an 85 while placing 58th (171). She had a birdie on the par three seventeenth hole and was +4 on the front nine. Kaitlyn Gray rounded out the team's score of 340 with an 88 on Sunday to finish 76th (183). Gray was four-over on the front nine and carded five pars on the day. Kelsey Conkright was the fifth player in the lineup and shot a 92 while placing 71st (179) in the field. She had two pars on Sunday.

The Belles compete in their final tune up tournament of the spring prior to the MIAA NCAA qualifying rounds as they travel to Normal, Illinois next weekend for the Illinois Wesleyan Spring Fling on Friday and Saturday.
