NILES, Mich. - The Saint Mary's golf team came up short in a match play event against Bethel as the Pilots took the event 7.5 to 1.5 at Signal Point Club.

Summer Stillson claimed the win in her match up against Brooke Thomas. After 16 holes of competition, Stillson trailed Thomas by one. The freshman claimed the 17th and 18th holes by one stroke each to claim the 1-up win.

Libby Clark picked up the half point for the Belles as she took on both Taylor Mrzlock and Delaney Barr. Clark shot par to match Mrzlock on the ninth hole as the pair played to an even score through nine holes to split the point. She fell to Barr by a 2-down margin on the back nine.

Kelsey Conkright was downed by Brooke Scartozzi. Conkright battled back from a 3-down deficit to draw even before making the turn. The senior, however, could not overtake Scartozzi on the back nine as she came up short by a 1-down score. Lauren Read fell short versus Chole Crusan. The pair played a tight front nine as Crusan held a 1-up advantage at the turn. Crusan took eight of the back nine holes, however, for the decision over Read.

Hunter Kehoe was edged out by Katie Brooks. Despite not shooting higher than a double bogey on any hole during the round, Kehoe suffered a 5-down loss as her opponent did not shoot worse than bogey on any hole. Taylor Kehoe shouldered a loss against Jaycee Bunner. Down two with two holes to go, the junior could not make up the difference as she and Bunner matched scores on 17 and 18.

Courtney Quinlan competed against both Anna Feldman and Taylor Russell but was stopped short in both matches. The senior had a 3-down setback on the front nine against Feldman. She nearly held off Russell on the back nine but fell by a 2-down margin.

The Belles travel to Michigan next weekend for Olivet's annual Labor Day Classic, which takes place at the Medalist Golf Club on Saturday and Sunday.
