Belles Sit in Tenth at Kathy Niepagen Spring Fling

NORMAL, Ill. - The Saint Mary's golf team posted a team score of 336 to hold sole possession of tenth place after day one of the Illinois Wesleyan University Kathy Niepagen Spring Fling at Ironwood Golf Course.

Host No. 25 (Golfstat Top 25) Illinois Wesleyan leads the field after a 309 on day one. No. 15 ranked Huntingdon College is second with a 314, and No. 12 ranked DePauw shot a 318 to lead No. 6 Washington University in St. Louis by one stroke for third place. Illinois Wesleyan's Rylie Loux had the lowest individual round of the day with a one-over par 73.

The Belles are well within striking distance after their score of 336 on Saturday. Ninth-place St. Catherine is just four strokes ahead with a 332 while a pair of squads are tied for seventh with scores of 329.

Tayloe Kehoe led Saint Mary's with an 81 to hold a share of 21st place overall. Summer Stillson and Hunter Kehoe were not far behind. Stillson carded an 83 to tie for 33rd, and Kehoe posted an 84 to tie for 42nd. Courtney Quinlan wrapped up the team score with an 88 to tie for 57th overall. Kelsey Conkright was the fifth golfer in the lineup for the Belles and shot a 94 (t-87th).

Day two of the 18-team tournament will begin at 9:00 a.m. CDT on Sunday with a shotgun start at Ironwood Golf Course.
