Belles Move Up at NCAA Championship Tournament

HOWEY-IN-THE-HILLS, Fla. - The Saint Mary's golf team moved up to 18th after day two at the 2018 NCAA Division III Golf Championship.

The Belles shot a team score of 352 to move ahead of Wartburg for 18th place in the field of 25 teams. Claremont Mudd Scripps shared round-low honors of 317 while moving solely into first place (628) in the overall team standings. Williams is second after a 322 on Wednesday gave the Ephs a two-day score of 633. New York University matched CMS's score of 317 on the day and hold third place overall at the tournament's midway point.

Margaret Loncki from Claremont Mudd Scripps and Navika Kuchakulla are tied atop the individual leaderboard with two-day scores of 152.

The Belles sit in 18th place with a two-day score of 713 after posting a 352 on Wednesday. Hunter Kehoe had a six-stroke improvement from yesterday's score as she turned in an 81. With her score of 87 yesterday, she moves into a tie for 57th overall (168). She was just three-over par on the front nine and had one hole over bogey - a double bogey - on the day. The freshman tallied nine pars and sunk a birdie on the par four ninth hole. Taylor Kehoe was just two strokes behind with an 83 and is also tied for 57th with a combined score of 168. The junior had eight pars and did not have a score higher than a double bogey on any hole. The older Kehoe added a birdie on the par five 14th hole.

Summer Stillson shaved four strokes off of her score as she turned in an 89 and is tied for 100th with a two-day score of 182. The freshman did not have a score over a double bogey on the day and posted six pars in the round. Courtney Quinlan wrapped up the team score with a 99 and is tied for 115th with a combined score of 195. She tallied five pars on the day. Kelsey Conkright shot a 106 and holds 125th overall with a two-day score of 212. She had a par and sunk a birdie on the par four ninth hole.

The Belles are 36 strokes back of 15th place Washington and Lee and sit 43 strokes behind 14th place Illinois Wesleyan. The field will be narrowed down from 25 to 15 teams and the top six individuals in the field not on one of those 15 teams after the conclusion of Thursday's round.

Day three of competition begins at 7:30 a.m. at the El Campeon Golf Course located at the Mission Inn & Resort in Florida. The Belles begin play at 8:40 a.m.
