Belles Subdued by Majors

MEMPHIS, Tenn. - The Saint Mary's lacrosse team fell to Millsaps by a 17-4 score on Tuesday afternoon.

The Majors scored the first goal of the game, but the Belles responded right back with a goal less than a minute later as Aubrey Golembieski tied the game five minutes into the first half.

Millsaps netted the next seven goals of the game to establish an 8-1 lead with 13:43 remaining in the opening period. Tess Guerrero got the Belles back on the scoreboard with a goal in the 16th minute of play. Four minutes later, she struck again to make it a 9-3 game with 9:13 left on the clock.

The Majors, however, closed out the half with a big push to take a 13-3 lead at the break.

The Belles held the Majors to just four second-half goals while netting a goal of their own - an unassisted effort by Aubrey Golembieski. Saint Mary's continued to show their improvement in the second half by cutting their turnovers in half while notching 10 shots in the period to their seven first half shots.

Saint Mary's converted 11 of their 14 clear attempts for their most efficient clearing effort of the season. The Belles also tallied a season-best 17 shots against the Majors led by Golembieski's seven shots.

Stephanie Szymas made eight saves in goal for the Belles.

Saint Mary's (0-3) closes out their spring break trip in Tennessee on Wednesday when they take on Defiance at 1:00 p.m. CST.
