Belles Earn IWLCA Zag Sports Academic Honor Squad Status

  • The lacrosse team earned their third consecutive Academic Honor Squad recognition.

GRAND LAKE, Colo. - The Saint Mary's lacrosse team earned their third consecutive Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) Zag Sports Academic Honor Squad recognition for their efforts in the classroom during the 2015-16 academic year.

The Belles are one of 131 NCAA Division III programs and 276 total women's teams from NCAA Division I, II, III and NAIA to earn the distinction for the 2016 season. In order to be an Academic Honor Squad, a team must maintain at least a 3.0 cumulative grade point average for the entire academic year. The Belles posted a GPA above a 3.14 to take a spot on the list.

Saint Mary's was one of five MIAA member programs to pick up the team academic recognition from the IWLCA for 2015-16. For the full list of recipients, visit the IWLCA's website here.
