Kelly and Dee Named All-MIAA

FREELAND, Mich. - Saint Mary's lacrosse players Kate Kelly and Katlynn Dee each picked up an All-Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) honor as announced by the league on Thursday.

Kate Kelly became the program's first-ever All-MIAA First Team honoree by picking up the at-large spot on the top team. The freshman midfielder was tied for 12th in total points (21) and tied for 13th in total goals (17) in conference play. She led the conference in both ground balls and caused turnovers while finishing 11th in draw controls in her first season with the Belles.

Katlynn Dee earned her second consecutive All-MIAA Second Team recognition as the Belles' leader on defense. The junior co-captain was ninth in the conference in caused turnovers and picked up 22 ground balls on the season as the Belles allowed the fifth-fewest goals per game among league teams in 2016.

In just the third year of the program, the Belles finished tied for fourth in the conference. It is the second consecutive season that the program has been recognized with multiple All-MIAA honorees by the conference coaches.
