Theisen Picks Up Second MIAA Player of the Week Honor

FREELAND, Mich. - For the second time this spring, Saint Mary's lacrosse player Clare Theisen has been recognized as an MIAA Player of the Week. The Belles midfielder was named MIAA Defensive Player of the Week on Monday for games through April 3.

Theisen, a sophomore from Downers Grove, Ill., won defensive honors after leading Saint Mary’s in ground balls and caused turnovers last week. She also finished a was a close second for the Belles in draw controls. In a 14-13 overtime victory over Benedictine, Theisen paced the Belles with five ground balls. She also caused two turnovers and won three draw controls. She ended the week with seven ground balls, six draw controls and four caused turnovers while playing midfield defense. Theisen was also active on offense with four goals and an assist to total five points last week.

She becomes the first member of the Saint Mary's lacrosse program to earn MIAA Player of the Week multiple times as she was selected as the league's offensive player of the week on March 14.
