FREELAND, Mich. - Saint Mary's senior lacrosse player Emilie Vanneste has been named the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) Defensive Player of the Week for games played through April 2.
The co-captain midfielder had a standout performance against Elmhurst on March 28 with seven caused turnovers and five ground balls. In that same game, she added three goals and four assists in the win. On the week, she had seven ground balls, four draw controls, and nine caused turnovers while posting 11 points (seven goals, four assists).
It is the first MIAA Player of the Week recognition of her career.
