October 15, 2014 (Notre Dame, Ind.) — Want to raise money for cancer research while getting in a workout? The Saint Mary’s College student club SMC Stands Up to Cancer will host its 3rd annual “Pink Party Zumbathon.” The event, which supports cancer research, will take place on Saturday, November 1 from 5:30-8:30 p.m. in Angela Athletic Facility and will feature more than 20 local Zumba instructors who will take turns teaching. The public is invited to take part. No prior Zumba experience is necessary. Those attending are encouraged to wear pink and dance for this great cause. Click for a campus map.

Admission is $5 for Saint Mary’s, Notre Dame, and Holy Cross students and $10 for the public in advance or $15 at the door. Tickets can be purchased ahead of time through participating local Zumba instructors or at Tu Sei Bella Fitness Studio in Toscana Park in Granger. Those interested may also email Zumba instructor and Saint Mary's College alumna Kimmi Martin Troy '00 to reserve a $10 ticket.

To add to the enthusiastic event, there will be performances by Troop ND, the Irish Dance Team, the SMC Dance Team, and Bellacapella, an a cappella group of Saint Mary’s students (aka "Belles"). There will also be a live DJ and a variety of local vendors in attendance.

All profits will benefit the national organization of Stand Up to Cancer, which supports cancer research. “This event is unique because we are able to raise funds and awareness for all types of cancer through this awesome organization,” said Christina Hutch ’15.

“Everyone knows someone who has been affected by cancer, and that is who we’ll be dancing for. We’re excited to share this experience with the community again this year.”
