November 14, 2013 (Notre Dame, Ind.)—Saint Mary's College is proud to announce that Ben Bowman was promoted this fall from director of energy management to director of facilities. He has been with Saint Mary’s College for over three years. “Ben is a mission oriented individual who looks out for the best interest of the College,” said Vice President for Finance Susan Bolt.

Before coming to Saint Mary’s College, Bowman was employed as a mechanical design engineer at DLZ, an architectural and engineering firm in South Bend.  In his new position, he provides strategic and tactical leadership for the development and maintenance of the College’s physical facilities. Bowman is responsible for the general management and supervision of the maintenance, building services, grounds, and energy management departments. His office is also responsible for facilities planning and project management and he serves as the College liaison with the Sisters of the Holy Cross for shared services personnel.

"I am excited to direct the facilities team into a sustainable, cost conscious, team building future,” said Bowman.  “I feel strongly in giving employees ownership of their work while motivating them to achieve success. I feel this empowerment model results in an increase in employee retention, loyalty, production, efficiency and safety awareness."

Bowman replaces Bill Hambling who retired from his position earlier this year.
