Fire Quickly Contained in Moreau Center for the Arts

November 3, 2012 (Notre Dame, Ind.)—Firefighters are investigating the cause of a fire at Saint Mary’s College that occurred early this morning in the basement of Moreau Center for the Arts in a set storage area. No one was hurt. The fire alarm went off at 12:55 a.m. and Saint Mary’s College Security used fire extinguishers to keep the fire from spreading. Within a few minutes, crews from the University of Notre Dame Fire Department, the South Bend Fire Department, and Clay Fire Territory responded, which is standard procedure. The fire was contained quickly, but firefighters remained at the scene for a couple of hours to clear the area of smoke so they could investigate the cause.
