“Love Your Body Week” Offers Its Simple Message for 5th Consecutive Year

February 17, 2015 (Notre Dame, Ind.)— Saint Mary’s College students will host Love Your Body Week on campus next week. The student-organized week at this women’s college includes talks and activities to encourage young women to see themselves in a positive light. This is the 5th consecutive year for the event.  Many of the events are open the public and all are free to attend. Click for a campus map.

“Love Your Body Week’s mission is to increase awareness for the importance of a healthy lifestyle through healthy eating and regular exercise,” said Chloe Deranek ’15, who chairs the the Student Government Association’s Social Concerns Committee with Kaitlyn Tarullo ’15. Love Your Body Week is organized by the committee, with the support and involvement of SGA, the office of Student Involvement and Multicultural Services (SIMS), and Campus Ministry.

“We strive to combat negative female body stereotypes and reinforce the real meaning of beauty on our campus”, Deranek said.

A Mother/Daughter Journey on “The Biggest Loser” 
Tuesday, February 24

7 p.m. in Carroll Auditorium

Hear from Marci Crozier (@BL11Marci) and Courtney Crozier (@BL11Courtney) of Valparaiso, who appeared on the 11th season of NBC's “The Biggest Loser,” as they talk about their weight-loss journeys. Courtney lost 100 pounds before joining the show and another 100 pounds on the program. Since the show she has graduated from college with a degree in business management, opened two YoAmazing Yogurt Shoppes in northwest Indiana, maintained her weight loss and healthy lifestyle, and is an inspiration to thousands of followers on social media.  Meanwhile, Marci, who lost close to 100 pounds on “The Biggest Loser,” is a motivational speaker who inspires sales teams, business professionals, and student athletes, as well as individuals struggling with personal fitness and weight issues. Her expertise in the fitness and weight loss industry was developed during her 29 years with Omni 41 Health and Fitness Connection.

Ladies, enjoy a day of pampering at Saint Mary’s. Shop a trunk show put on by local boutiques, get your hair and makeup done by a salon, and treat yourself to gourmet cupcakes.
