September 9, 2015—The Saint Mary's Departments of Gender and Women’s Studies and Psychology are proud to welcome Meghan Buell to the College for her talk titled, "Transgender: The Binary (What's a Spork Supposed to Do?)" on Wednesday, September 23 at 4:30 p.m. in Dalloway’s Clubhouse. Buell is former executive director at the GLBT Resource Center of Michiana and has helped expand the region’s knowledge of the transgender community. Buell’s outreach and educational efforts extend to area campuses and non-profits, as well as to regional cities where she has served as a resource for composing transgender inclusive ordinances. Buell serves on the Transgender Advisory Committee for the national organization Out & Equal Workplace Advocates. Most recently, she founded a nonprofit organization to bring transgender education to underserved communities around the Midwest. The organization’s name is TREES, Inc. (Transgender Resource, Education and Enrichment Services).
