“Raising Ms. President” Film Screening and Panel Discussion

April 9, 2015 (Notre Dame, Ind.)— Saint Mary's College and the Girl Scouts of Northern Indiana/Michiana will host the screening of the documentary “Raising Ms. President” and a panel discussion to follow on Wednesday, April 15 from 6:30 to 9 p.m. The event will take place in Carroll Auditorium of Madeleva Hall. Click for a campus map. This is a free event and girls in grade 6 though 12 are encouraged to attend.

“Raising Ms. President” is about raising the next generation of female political leaders. The film explores some of the reasons women don’t run for office and uncovers where political ambitions begin. Panelists include:

  • Blair Milo, mayor of La Porte
  • Elizabeth Bennion, professor of political science at IU-South Bend and host of WNIT's Political Speaking
  • Diana Hess, member of the St. Joseph County Council
     

The Saint Mary’s College Department of Gender and Women Studies, the Department of Communication Studies, Dance, and Theatre, and the Center for Women’s Intercultural Leadership along with the Girl Scouts of Northern Indiana/Michiana are hosting the event.
