Saint Mary's College Announces New Executive Director of Inclusion and Equity

October 11, 2019 (Notre Dame, Ind.) — Saint Mary’s College has named a new executive director of inclusion and equity. Interim President Nancy Nekvasil announced Redgina L. Hill, former Director of Diversity and Inclusion for Bethel University, as the new executive director today at the College’s Board of Trustees meeting. She will begin her role on October 28.

Hill brings a great level of experience to Saint Mary’s as the first to serve in this newly developed role. She joined Bethel University (formerly Bethel College) in February of 2010 as an Admission Counselor and rose to Associate Director of Admission Recruitment in May of 2015. By September of that year, she was promoted again to become the founding Director for the Office of Diversity and Inclusion where she provided leadership, vision, education, and guidance to the President and campus community. Hill served in that capacity for four years advancing the diversity agenda by creating a campus-wide training program, chairing the Diversity and Inclusion Advisory Board, and developed curriculum for the Dr. Billy Kirk Social Justice Leadership Scholars Program.

Hill will report directly to the president and serve as a member of the President’s Cabinet. Interim President Nekvasil reinforced the importance of the role and her delight in Hill’s acceptance of the position.

“I am extremely pleased to be welcoming Redgina Hill into this role” Interim President Nancy Nekvasil shared. “She brings an incredible amount of experience and enthusiasm to help carry forward our agenda of continual increase in access for students from all backgrounds. This is an important step at Saint Mary’s College as we seek to create a welcoming, diverse community where all have an opportunity to succeed. I don’t believe we could have found a better candidate.”

In addition to her roles at Bethel, Hill is the Founder and CEO of Redgina Hill Consulting serving businesses and organizations in the South Bend area who seek to cultivate diversity, equity, and inclusion into their organization’s culture. She is currently finishing her doctor of philosophy in higher education at Azusa Pacific University with a dissertation on the role of black chief diversity officers in higher education. She holds a master’s in business administration from Indiana Wesleyan University and a bachelor of general studies from Indiana University, Bloomington.

Hill is adept at facilitating change through measurable goals and plays an active role in the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) as a committee chair. She is a member of the National Association of Diversity Officers in Higher Education (NADOHE), the Association of the Study of Higher Education (ASHE), and the Indiana Association of Blacks in Higher Education (IABHE).

Upon accepting the position Hill shared “I am grateful for the opportunity to serve in the inaugural role as the executive director of inclusion and equity. Saint Mary’s College is a vibrant community, and I look forward to joining the leadership team as well as working collaboratively with others on campus who are working so diligently towards the College’s commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.”
