Presidential Listening Tour: A Foundation for the Future Announced

President Jan Cervelli

September 2, 2016 (Notre Dame, Ind.) — Today, Saint Mary’s College President Jan Cervelli launched her Presidential Listening Tour: A Foundation for the Future to gather feedback to inform the College’s next strategic plan for the years ahead.

President Cervelli, whose term began on June 1, will hold a series of meetings and attend events throughout the academic year with students, faculty, and staff, as well as alumnae, parents, trustees, and friends.

Surveys will also be conducted. President Cervelli will develop a summary report next summer, in collaboration with the College’s Office of Institutional Research, based on the data collected and personal input from stakeholders.

“Among the strengths of Saint Mary’s College are the institutional memory and the innovative spirit of people striving to sustain and enhance what has been built here,” President Cervelli said. “I want to hear your ideas for the future, your vision for the Saint Mary’s we can build together.”

Saint Mary’s current strategic plan, Boldly Forward, initiated by President Emerita Carol Ann Mooney, covers the years 2012–17. As the plan concludes and a new administration begins, President Cervelli encourages everyone in the campus and alumnae communities, and all friends and supporters of Saint Mary’s, to make their voices heard in shaping the College’s future.

“Saint Mary’s proud tradition inspires and reminds us that, though our service to the College will be short in the full sweep of its history, the influence of decisions we make today will be felt much longer.” President Cervelli said. “What do we want our influence on Saint Mary’s to be?”
