Saint Mary’s College Women’s Choir to tour Midwest on Spring Break

March 3, 2017 (Notre Dame, Ind.) — The Saint Mary’s College Women’s Choir will tour the Midwest over this year’s spring break, returning to campus for a Homecoming Concert on March 24. The choir will spend March 10-18 traveling to cities in Indiana, Missouri, Kansas, and Colorado singing at churches and schools. The Women’s Choir is a select 30-voice ensemble that regularly commissions and performs new works for women’s voices.

Nancy Menk, choral director and music professor, has fully prepared the choir with varied challenging music. It will be primarily a program of new music for women’s voices.

“Audiences will hear new music for women's voices, both sacred and secular, most written in the last 25 years.  Composers include Americans Z. Randall Stroope, Stephen Paulus, Jake Runestad, and Gwyneth Walker, Spanish composers Javier Busto and Josu Elberdin, and French composer Francis Poulenc,” Menk noted.

Bellacappella, the acappella group consisting of students from Women’s Choir, will perform during various concerts as well.
