Stand Up to Cancer Club Hosts Pink Party Zumbathon

February 19, 2016 (Notre Dame, IN.)—The Saint Mary’s College Stand Up to Cancer Club will host its 4th annual Pink Party Zumbathon to raise money for cancer research. This year they will team up with the Kelly Cares Foundation. The event will take place on Saturday, February 27 from 5:30 to 8 p.m. in Angela Athletic Facility on campus. This event is open to the public. Admission is $5 for SMC/ND/HCC students and $15 for the public. Tickets can be purchased at the door the day of the event, or at the front desk of Angela Athletic Office from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. until Friday, February 26.

The Pink Party Zumbathon will feature dances taught by various Zumba instructors throughout the evening, including Kimmi Martin Troy ‘00. In addition to dancing, there will be different vendors and giveaways during the event and a limited number of free t-shirts. Wearing pink is encouraged and no prior Zumba experience is necessary.

“Participants can expect over two hours of Zumba Fitness fun led by 15 licensed Zumba instructors from all over the South Bend area. Currently we have representatives from Beyond Zen Pilates and Yoga Studio, the Michiana Family YMCA, DoTerra, Lululemon, and we are expecting more,” Troy said.

“We hope everyone will comes out to stand up and dance at the Zumbathon this year,’” said Claire Condon ‘17, executive committee member of the SMC Stand Up to Cancer Club.

Each year profits from the Zumbathon go to a non-profit organization supporting cancer research. “This year the Kelly Cares Foundation is fortunate enough to be the recipient,” said Becky Beckman, director of communications at the Kelly Cares Foundation, an organization that supports breast cancer research, among other causes.
