Statement by President Jan Cervelli on the death of Sr. Agnes Anne, CSC

To the Saint Mary’s Family,

Please join me in praying for peace for our beloved Sister Agnes Anne, CSC.

DC Schindler

Today, at the age of 89, after 64 years of ministry in the Congregation of Holy Cross, Sister Agnes Anne has gone home to the Lord. I extend my heartfelt condolences to the Roberts family, to her sisters and brothers in the Holy Cross, to the Saint Mary’s family, and to all whose lives were touched and enriched by Sister Agnes Anne’s life and ministry.

Sister Agnes Anne, class of 1951, served her alma mater as director of space management and planning since 2001 and served on the College’s Board of Trustees since 2010. Her life’s work included many ministries.

Sister Agnes Anne worked as a registered dietitian for 30 years before she returned to Saint Mary’s in 1984 as the Chief Operating Officer of Holy Cross Services Corporation. Her service on numerous boards and committees, including Saint Mary’s and St. Margaret’s House in South Bend, exemplified the College’s mission to prepare women for lives of leadership and action. She also volunteered with Project Haiti, which provides resources and expertise to help care for abandoned children who are dying from AIDS in Haiti.

In my short time here, Sister Agnes Anne was a mentor, a friend and a model of what a Sister should be. She is now resting in the arms of our Lord.
In Saint Mary’s,

Jan Cervelli
President
