Department of Nursing Science

In the Department of Nursing Science, we produce competent, confident professional nurses who assume leadership roles in the promotion of health and healing. You’ll carry forward the College’s mission with the skills and hands-on experience to make a difference in others’ lives. Our baccalaureate degree in nursing is accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE) and the Indiana State Board of Nursing.

We offer a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN). In addition to our rigorous nursing courses, you’ll benefit from our liberal arts focus, which promotes scholarship, the use of critical thinking and ethical decision making in clinical practice, life-long learning and an obligation for social responsibility and service for vulnerable and underserved individuals, families, and communities.

The faculty in the Department of Nursing Science is comprised of accomplished experts and scholars who match their passion for nursing with a dedication to teaching and mentoring. Their areas of scholarship include women’s experience with obesity and health care, delirium, suicide prevention in the elderly, and relationship-centered communication.

You’ll find our nursing alumnae achieving great things all over the country, and as part of the Saint Mary’s sisterhood, they serve as valuable professional connections. Our graduates have pursued advanced degrees at Duquesne University, Indiana University, New York University, Valparaiso University, and Saint Mary's College. With a degree in nursing science, you’ll be well prepared for graduate school, as well as a diverse range of careers.
