Statement from President Mooney on the appointment of new bishop to the Diocese of Fort Wayne-South Bend
On behalf of the Board of Trustees, faculty, staff, and students of Saint Mary’s College I am delighted to welcome Bishop Kevin Rhoades to our diocese.
As the president of Saint Mary’s, it has been my privilege to work with Bishop John D’Arcy for the past six years. Bishop D’Arcy understands Catholic Higher Education and its challenges. Every year he stayed after our Baccalaureate Mass and posed for pictures until the last family left. This is very typical of both his personal warmth and his pastoral nature. I wish him all the best as he moves into the next phase of his vocation.
I look forward to meeting Bishop Rhoades and introducing him to the Saint Mary’s community.
