In the Spotlight: J’Andra Antisdel
J’Andra Antisdel is an assistant professor of nursing science, teaching undergraduate and graduate courses in mental health and health informatics. A mental health nurse since 2005, she has been teaching since 2019. In early 2025, Antisdel was recognized by the Midwest Nursing Research Society (MNRS) for her research on cyber victimization. This significant achievement distinguishes Antisdel as a national leader in the field of mental health nursing. In May, she received the Karen Bush Schneider Faculty Scholarship Award from Saint Mary’s for her commitment to psychiatric mental health and the quality of life of individuals with chronic health conditions.

In the Spotlight: Marwan Gebran
I was raised in a Catholic family and taught by Jesuits throughout my education, so I wanted to give this opportunity to my children. When you come from another country, you want to go somewhere secure, close to yourself, and where you are used to. The Catholic education, culture, and way of living was the main thing that I was attracted to at Saint Mary’s. I have now been here for four years.

In the Spotlight: Kristin Kuter
Kristin Kuter is an associate professor in the Department of Math and Computer Science and on faculty in the Master of Science in Data Science program. She recently began a new role this year as the director for the Dual Degree in Engineering Program. Professor Kuter came to Saint Mary’s in 2009, and recently completed a Fulbright Fellowship in Zimbabwe. She is humble, pushes her students to succeed, and hopes to travel more.

In the Spotlight: Laura Williamson
Meet Laura Williamson, a faculty member in the humanistic studies department at Saint Mary’s and a beloved professor of many current students and alumnae. Williamson received her BA from Rutgers University and her Ph.D. from the University of Michigan before finding herself at Saint Mary’s College. Williamson took a moment to sit down and share her story for the latest issue of Avenues about what led her to Saint Mary’s, what inspires her each day, what she hopes students will take away from her classes, and her favorite book recommendations!
