Women Featured in “The Hunting Ground” Documentary to Speak at Sai...
The Saint Mary’s College Department of Gender and Women’s Studies is proud to announce that Andrea Pino and Annie Clark, whose personal journeys and justice efforts were prominently featured in the documentary “The Hunting Ground,” will speak at Saint Mary’s next month. Pino and Clark are founders of the organization End Rape On Campus (endrapeoncampus.org). Their lecture, titled “A Culture of Commitment: Everyday Activism, and Supporting All Survivors,” will take place on Thursday, September 10 at 7 p.m. in Carroll Auditorium of Madeleva Hall. The event is free and open to the public.

Saint Mary’s Position in U.S. News Rankings Moves up to 82 from 96
Saint Mary's College remains in the top 100 of the highest ranked colleges in the U.S. News & World Report’s Best National Liberal Arts Colleges list, which was released today. The College has been in the top 100 for seven years running, this year coming in at 82 out of at least 235 liberal arts colleges. Access to the national rankings can be found beginning today online or printed in the new “Best Colleges 2016” guidebook, available online and in stores later this month.

Two Choral Events, Hosted By Music Department, in November
The Saint Mary’s College Department of Music will host two special women’s choral events in mid-November. The Fall Choral Concert will be held on Wednesday, November 18 at 7:30 p.m. in O’Laughlin Auditorium. Ticket information can be found at MoreauCenter.com. The College will also host the 31st annual High School Women’s Choir Festival Thursday, November 19 and Friday, November 20, also in O’Laughlin.

10th Annual Dance Marathon Planned for Saturday, March 28
On Saturday, March 28, more than 300 students will participate in the 10th annual Saint Mary’s College Dance Marathon (SMCDM). The 12-hour event has raised more than half a million dollars for Riley Hospital for Children at Indiana University Health since students introduced the organization on campus in 2005.

Saint Mary's Seeks Public Comment for Higher Learning Commission Evalu...
Saint Mary’s College is seeking comments from the public about the College in preparation for its periodic evaluation by its regional accrediting agency. The College will host the visit November 9-11, 2015, with a team representing the Higher Learning Commission of the North Central Association. Comments must be in writing and must address substantive matters related to the quality of the institution or its academic programs. All comments must be received by October 1, 2015.

80 Girls to Experience Free Sports Clinic at Saint Mary’s
What better place than a women’s college to expose girls to the joys of sports and fitness? The Saint Mary’s College Department of Athletics, in cooperation with the Women’s Sports Foundation, will host a free sports clinic to encourage girls to get out there and play. The event takes place in Angela Athletic Facility this Friday, Feb. 27 between 6 and 8 p.m. More than 80 girls between the ages of 6 and 12 are signed up to take part in the sports clinic.

SOLD OUT Michelle Alexander, Author of “The New Jim Crow," to Speak ...
Saint Mary’s College is proud to host Michelle Alexander, author of the best-selling book “The New Jim Crow,” on Monday, February 9 at 7 p.m. in O'Laughlin Auditorium. Her book, published in 2010, explores cultural biases that many say still exist and how segregation has been replaced by mass incarceration. Her lecture, titled “Mass Incarceration in the Age of Colorblindness,” will discuss racial injustice in the American legal system. The lecture is free and open to the public. World Cinema Festival Films Announced
The Saint Mary’s College Center for Women’s Intercultural Leadership (CWIL) will host the World Cinema Festival, Tuesday, Jan. 27 through Thursday, Jan. 29. This annual event, which is free and open to the public, will feature three films in the original language with English subtitles over the course of three nights. Each will be shown at 7 p.m. in the Vander Vennet Theatre on the ground level of the Student Center.

“Love Your Body Week” Offers Its Simple Message for 5th Consecutiv...
Saint Mary’s College students will host Love Your Body Week on campus next week. The student-organized week at this women’s college includes talks and activities to encourage young women to see themselves in a positive light. This is the 5th consecutive year for the event. Many of the events are open the public and all are free to attend.
