Indiana Private College Week, July 22-26, Encourages the Campus Visit Summer is a favorite time for high school juniors and seniors to visit colleges they are interested in attending. Indiana Private College Week, from Monday, July 22, through Friday, July 26, offers high school students the opportunity to take a look at any of the state’s 31 private, non-profit colleges and universities, including Saint Mary’s College. The week is sponsored by Independent Colleges of Indiana (ICI). Busfield Garners All-Region Honor LOUISVILLE, Ky. - Saint Mary’s freshman Jillian Busfield was named to the All-Region Third Team in the Central Region by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association for the 2013 season. "Radium Girls" Paints a Tragic Picture (In the Bend) Starting tonight, the theatre program will present Radium Girls as the 2013 fall production. Radium Girls, a play set in New Jersey the 1920s, is based on the true story of young factory workers who begin a campaign for justice after being sickened by radium-laced paint on the job. It is a fast-moving theatrical ensemble piece about greed, wealth, the environment, science, and courage. Saint Mary’s College Launches New Website Saint Mary’s College launched the first phase of its website redesign on Saturday, October 8. Most of the changes are to the home page, which displays new features and supporting content. Enhancements will be made throughout the site in the future. The event will take place at Saint Mary's College on Saturday, Oct. 26. The event will begin at 6 p.m. in the Student Center Lounge with cocktails and a champagne toast followed by dinner in the adjoining Noble Family Dining Hall. Speaker Lectures on Dangers of Stalking (South Bend Tribune) The Belles Against Violence Office (BAVO) invited Debbie Riddle, a nationally known speaker on the dangers of stalking, to speak at the College Monday. Among its functions, BAVO offers educational and violence prevention programming on campus. In 2003, Riddle’s sister, Peggy Klinke, was murdered by a man who stalked her for almost a year. Shortly after her sister’s murder, Riddle began speaking publicly to generate change. Saint Mary's Seniors Prepare for Commencement and Futures Saint Mary’s College will hold its 166th Commencement at noon on Saturday, May 18 on Le Mans Green in front of the iconic Le Mans Hall. The Class of 2013 is made up of 374 women from 33 states and one other country (Korea). The seniors are ready for their next step in life, whether that’s a job, an internship, a service opportunity, graduate school, etc. Junior Receives Research Fellowship in Memory of Zhang '15 (The Observ... One thing Ziqi Zhang '15 and Rachael Bridgman '14 had in common was a love of science and research. Bridgman recently received the NDnano Undergraduate Research Fellowship established in memory of Zhang, who died in the fall when she was hit by a car. “It is a true honor to be able to continue down the path that Ziqi loved, which was research,” Bridgman said. “I am happy to do this summer job in part on her behalf because this is what she would have done this summer. I have heard only wonderful things about her.”
