Tattoos as Form of Communication (South Bend Tribune) The South Bend Tribune is running a series on the popularity of tattoos. Among those interviewed is Terri L. Russ, assistant professor of communication studies, who teaches a course at the College called Female Beauty. She talks about how tattoos are a form of communication. Also interviewed is psychology major Ashley Goorhouse '12 who wrote her senior comprehensive on tattoos and women. Her research shows that throughout history women with tattoos are perceived more negatively than men with tattoos. Saint Mary’s College is proud to announce that the National Science Foundation (NSF) has awarded the College more than half a million dollars to promote the advancement of women in science and engineering.
