Schneider, Brink Sweep MIAA Player of the Week Honors

ROYAL OAK, Mich. - The Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association has named Saint Mary’s outside hitter Kati Schneider its Position Player of the Week and setter Danie Brink its Specialty Player of the Week in volleyball for matches played through October 28.

Schneider, a sophomore from East Sparta, Ohio, had 58 kills, 50 digs and six services aces as the Belles posted a 2-2 record on the week. She pounded 17 kills and added 16 digs in a sweep of Alma, and had 18 kills and 14 digs in a loss to Hope. Schneider is being honored as Player of the Week for the second time this season.

Brink, a senior from Muskegon, Michigan, dished out 137 assists (10.4 per set) as Saint Mary’s posted a 2-2 record for the week. She had 39 assists and eight digs in a loss to Hope and 34 assists and 12 digs in a win over Alma. Brink, who now ranks second in career assists in Saint Mary’s history, is being honored as Player of the Week for the first time this season and third time in her career.
