Nursing Students to Host Christmas Party for Families in Pediatric Res...
The Saint Mary’s College Student Nursing Association (SNA) will host a Pediatric Respite Christmas Party for families that student nurses work with through the nursing department’s Pediatric Respite Program. It’s a program in which nursing students provide care to children with special needs, giving family caregivers a break.

Saint Mary’s College to Host 9/11 Event “We Remember”
Saint Mary’s College will host a performing arts event by faculty called “We Remember”, a commemoration in music, dance and poetry on the 10th anniversary of 9/11. The event will take place in Little Theatre at 4 p.m. on Sunday, September 11. Admission is free and the public is encouraged to attend.

Trot for Tots raises money for Dance Marathon (various media)
The annual Trot for Tots 5K, a fundraiser for Dance Marathon, which raises money for Riley Hospital, took place on September 28. Dance Marathon student organizers hit the local morning news programs encouraging the public to take part. Two students, Rebecca Guerin ’12, president of Dance Marathon, and Casey Palmer ’12, whose siblings were treated at Riley's, were on WNDU-TV. Rebecca and Maureen Parsons ‘13 appeared on Fox 28. The Observer, covered the event, interviewing Kate Kellogg ’13 and Liz Kraig ’13, who were in charge of Trot for Tots.

According to the article, the face of hunger in America is changing. It’s a little more ex-middle class, a little more desperate and there are a lot more mouths to feed, people who run the nation's food banks say. “The emptying of food banks is another indicator of the depth of the recession and its long term impacts,” says economics professor Jerry McElroy.

Students to Sponsor Breast Cancer Awareness Run/Walk
On Sunday, October 9, the Healthy Mind, Healthy Body Club at Saint Mary's College will host its inaugural Belles for Boobies 5K walk/run to benefit the Susan G. Komen for the Cure Foundation, an organization dedicated to research and support for breast cancer.

ROYAL OAK, Mich. - The Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association has named Saint Mary’s setter Danie Brink its Specialty Player of the Week for matches played through September 24.
