Belles Suffer Setback Against Bulldogs

Box Score

NOTRE DAME, Ind. - The Saint Mary's soccer team was handed a 3-0 loss by conference-leading Adrian on Tuesday afternoon.

In a game where the ball was battled for in the middle of the field more often than not, the Bulldogs broke the 0-0 deadlock with just under 15 minutes left halftime. Adrian took a corner kick and sent it just past the reach of Saint Mary's netminder Natalie Warner to an open Patti Vaassen, whose one-time shot stayed near-side for the game's first goal.

Adrian came out of the halftime break to double their lead just 1:22 seconds into the half on a header goal inside the box. The Bulldogs would go on to add their third goal with just under 20 minutes left in the contest for the 3-0 decision.

The Belles had a few looks at the goal, from long range in particular, but were unable to convert any of their shots into goals on the day. Courtney Wright had the Belles' lone shot on goal while Kerry Green, Jordan Diffenderfer, Keely Noonan, and Mollie Valencia all tallied a shot in the loss.

Natalie Warner shouldered the loss in goal, allowing one goal on six shots in the first 45 minutes of action. Chanler Rosenbaum allowed two goals in the second half of play in goal. Both goalkeepers tallied two saves each.

The Belles (8-7, 4-7 MIAA) will take to the road for their final away contest of the 2011 regular season when they head to Kalamazoo on Thursday, October 20 for a 4:00 p.m. clash with the Hornets. The game will be played at the Kalamazoo Community Soccer Complex, 901 S. Drake Rd. in Kalamazoo.
