Rompola Picks Up MIAA Defensive Player of the Week Honor

FREELAND, Mich. - Emily Rompola, a senior defender on the Saint Mary's soccer team, was named the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) Defensive Player of the Week for games played prior to September 6.

A co-captain for the team, Rompola played in all 180 minutes of the team's two opening weekend contests as Saint Mary's hosted the Belles Invitational on Friday and Saturday. She put the Belles on the scoreboard first in a 3-1 win over Manchester on Friday while limiting the scoring chances for MSOE in a 1-0 loss on Saturday. She was an all-tournament team selection for her efforts on the weekend.

It is the first MIAA Player of the Week recognition of her career.
