Belles Split Tuesday Contests


FORT MYERS, Fla. - The Saint Mary's softball team suffered a 3-2 loss to NYU-Poly but then responded with a 2-0 victory over Mount Saint Mary on Tuesday.

Against the Fighting Blue Jays of the Polytechnic Institute of NYU, Victoria Connelly had a single, a sacrifice bunt, and scored a run to help the Belles' cause. Jordie Wasserman added a double, and Angela Gillis had a single with a run scored.

Callie Selner suffered her first loss in the circle after surrendering three earned runs while walking three and striking out four.

The Belles rebounded quickly as they handed Mount Saint Mary a 2-0 defeat. Lauren Enayati was 2-for-2 at the plate with a pair of singles, a sacrifice fly, and a run driven in. Kristen Nelson added a single with a run scored, and Morgan Bedan tallied a double with a run scored.

Monica Palicki pushed her record to 3-0 on the year by scattering three hits over seven innings and striking out three.

The Belles (5-1) will face off against Lasell and New Jersey City tomorrow at 11:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. in Florida.
